Perry is Perry is a Chicago native who was birthed to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first appearance was in television shows in the role of Jackie Harris, a character that was played by her mother on Roseanne, an ABC show Roseanne. Perry did not decide to pursue acting as a career until she reached adulthood because her parents were concerned about the adverse effects that stress could cause. Perry, who was too shy to be a part of the theater in her school, began performing in theater classes at Northwestern University because she wanted to make new friends. Perry left for New York, where she landed small roles in series like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The feeling of homesickness brought Perry back to California, where theater jobs were available. She appeared on Broadway with her mother in The Other Place with her mother in 2013. The father of her Kevin McKidd performed in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prizewinning drama Anna Christie alongside her in 2015. Perry appeared in 9 episodes of ABC's thriller The Family during 2016. In 2017, Perry starred in the role of a political thriller Scandal alongside her father. She played a younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off episode from CBS's The Big Bang Theory was another portrayal by her younger mother. The part was offered by audition regardless of the fact that she has a family tie with the role.
